Creating Your Reality vs Fate & Destiny
I recently had an interesting question in light of my upcoming lecture on “The Secret” and the Law of Attraction. While this person believes that we can create and manifest our desires, she firmly believes in fate and destiny as well. Here’s my quick answer to her:
I think that we always have free will, so that even if something is lined up for us in terms of fate or destiny, we still have the power to change the course of it. In other words, look at something that seems immutable, like being born a certain gender - that would seem to be someone’s fate or destiny, right? But nowadays, they can actually change that! Or it would seem to be your fate to come together with a certain soulmate, but one or other of the two is unable or unwilling to make it work…it just goes on and on, it’s always that human part that can make it or break it. And then there’s the question - which was the actual destiny? To get together - or not??? Maybe the actual fate was to “love and lose” and learn from that lesson! I firmly believe that there are no accidents or coincidences, so if something has a different ending than we might have thought, then that was the one that was supposed to happen.
And, by using the principle of The Law of Attraction, you can have a much more conscious hand in the making of the destiny that you desire, rather than fatalistically leaving it all to the supposed whims of the gods or the Universe.
I know that it seems impossible that we create it all, but I think if we can accept that we have even the slightest influence on our own future, then we should embrace that potential and use it for all that it’s worth!
